The nominees for music’s biggest night have been revealed. Just several days ago, the Recording Company Committee has released the full list of nominees for the 59th Grammy Awards, which will be held this coming February 12, 2017. And as expected, there are some surprising candidates and even shocking snubs. However, one name stood out and it is no short of surprise. Beyonce has once again shown everyone who runs the world.
With over 9 nominations, the R&B singer has exceeded other fellow competitors such as Kanye West, Adele and Drake who all got eight nods. Queen Bey’s nominations revolved all around her much talked about the latest album, Lemonade. She is even included in the top category of the night, which is the Album of the Year along with other heavy hitters such as Drake, Justin Bieber and Adele. One particular surprising member of this group is the critically acclaimed album by Sturgill Simpson, A Sailor’s Guide To Earth.
Now back to Queen Bey and her greatness, the “Hold Up” singer also dominated minor awards such as Best Contemporary Album and Best Music Film for Lemonade; Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Music Video of the Year for her anthem Formation; Best Pop Solo Performance for her catchy single Hold Up; and Best Rap Performance for his song Freedom with rapper Kendrick Lamar. She is also nominated in one more category and it caused quite some hate. Her song Don’t Hurt Yourself with rock legend Jack White has been nominated for Best Rock Performance and it caused some outrage from some die hard rock fans which deemed her as not a rock artist and therefore should be disqualified on the mentioned category. The world will see if Queen Beyonce goes home with nine Grammys when the show hits off early next year.
