With over 48 seasons under his belt, the veteran newsman has sat out for only 2 shows. Now, Morley Safer, the long time correspondent on “60 Minutes” is retiring.
The network released a statement on Wednesday saying that it will celebrate the occasion with a hour-long special on Safer’s career Sunday following the show’s normal broadcast.
Morley Safer is now 84, and has recently cut back on work to deal with some personal health issues. His last report on 60 Minutes was a profile of Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, which marked his 919th report for the show since 1970.
